Jimmy Carter Works Project 2003

Each year since 1984, former President and Jimmy Carter, and his wife Rosalynn, has devoted a week to building houses with Habitat for Humanity partner families.
They have worked alongside partner families and volunteers in locations throughout the US and abroad.

During the week of June 6th-13th, the Carters will lead JCWP (Jimmy Carter Work Project) 2003 in three communities - Valdosta and LaGrange, Georgia, and Anniston, Alabama, not far from their own home in Plains, Georgia.
More than 2,000 volunteers are needed to join the Carters as they work alongside homeowner family members, who are required to invest 'sweat equity' in the houses they will go on to purchase.
Three volunteers from Liverpool will be travelling to LaGrange to join the Carters, Dr Shannon Ledbetter, Church and Community Connections, Pro Torkington, former Dean of Hope in the Community, and Marie Kearney, Project Manager, Liverpool Habitat for Humanity.
House Number 10
Tonya Gay - Tonya is a caregiver at a personal care home. She has three children: Michael, 7;Hailey, 4; and Steven, 8 months. They live in a trailer in very poor condition. When it rains, water leaks
through the front and back doors. The children love to play outside, but the yard has deep holes, is overgrown with weeds and is unsafe. They look forward to having a park near their new house where
they can play with new friends.
